Mummy Cats and Mermaid  Cats

The ancient Egyptians mummified animals as well as humans. They probably made more ibis mummies than any other type of animal mummy — but cat mummies are a close second.
I first encountered cat mummies in the Chicago Field Museum on a class field trip.  Since that time, on and off, I've painted these Mummy Cat paintings. In recent years I've introduced Mermaid Cats. I'm inspired by the work of the masters as well as pop culture, literature and history.
